Shary Thur has been at the forefront of commercial real estate space for over 30 years. Shary has procured, structured and negotiated virtually every form of deals including ground leases, acquisition and dispositions, all forms of leases, new shopping centers from the ground up, malls, land assemblages, and a range of equity transfers including business sales.
Prior to starting her own commercial firm, Shary’s experience as an astute business owner and operator comes from eight previous ventures that have taught her about every facet of what it takes to make a business go from zero to millions in revenue. She truly understands the dynamics of business, the retail industry from a fundamental level and the many challenges a business owner faces day in and day out.
Shary attributes her career’s success to the unbroken, long-term relationships she has forged with a number of developers, REITs, landlords, national retailers, franchisors and with many small business owners and start-ups. She helps shape and implement their real estate strategies to achieve unparalleled successes. These relationships have helped form her upstanding reputation as a part of the retail industry and have allowed her to leverage an extensive network to open doors for her clients and constituents. Shary believes that no matter how big or small, every client deserves someone who fights for them to achieve the most favorable terms in a lease and who will work long after a deal is done to ensure they are set up for future success. She lives every day with an unbridled passion for what she does, and her energy is infectious to all who have the opportunity to work with her.
Shary specializes in national retail and franchise site selection, as well as, Landlord representation, fixing broken or highly challenged properties with large vacancies. Of late Shary is pioneering the transformation of outdated malls into today’s modern destination. She is doing so by introducing a vibrant tenant mix along with a vast array of amenities that revitalize the atmosphere into a new & exciting place for families and their communities.
Shary has worked with many national retailers such as Marshalls, Harris Teeter, Homegoods, Bealls Outlet Stores, Home Centric, Big Lots, AC Moore, Tuesday Morning: national restaurant chains such as Brass Tap, Strictly Wings, Starbucks, Johnny Rockets, Wendy’s, Nathans, Peets Coffee, and many others helping them identify new markets to fuel their growth. Shary has represented REITs and private equity shopping center owners, helping stabilize their properties and build strong & enduring tenant mixes. She is known for her ability to listen and provide straightforward advice and prides herself on executing and delivering results.
She is a person who is filled with energy and has a genuine love for life, health, and helping others. She believes in the power of perseverance as a four-time survivor of Breast Cancer since 1994. She supports and is a role model for other women with breast cancer, who she has enjoyed helping for the past 35 years. She spends countless hours training young and older women commercial real estate and offers them jobs with base salaries to get out in the workforce. Despite her busy schedule, Shary still finds time to support and contribute to several Breast Cancer Foundations and a veteran’s foundations; helping our veterans find employment through purchasing franchises. Through her many hardship and struggles has taught her the importance of giving back and helping others.
